A strong second team headed to North Staffs who were placed 2nd in the table. Kulwant had joined us for his first outing for OWHC playing out of position in midfield and taking a ball to his forehead for his trouble whilst on the line at a defensive short corner. I imagine the next time he is offered a mask by Colin he will accept. Colin then impressively saved from the inevitable subsequent flick to enable OW's to maintain their lead.
Simon, Ted and Gurnam had all converted chances with Simon's being particularly memorable from a tight angle after Andy "never give up" Jackson had pulled out a cross from the back line. Colin and the defence, Armandeep in particular, managed to maintain a clean sheet even after many many North Staffs short corners.
The first half had seen moments of good interlinking hockey which was lacking in the second half with the midfield often cut out. The team can play better hockey and will need to against better opposition. Those who did not come back to enjoy North Staffs hospitality missed out on selecting the Man of the Match and some fine Dominoe's Pizzas!
