Coming off the back of a couple of good performances against top table teams, but with not points to show for it, this was our chance to get a result and secure survival in Div 6.
We started well and dominated most of the first half. We held possession patiently, working it well around the back, and kept Stafford to a few break-away chances. We created a few, and earned a Penalty Stroke off our first short corner. Sadly the keeper saved from Archie.
Going into the break all square, we knew we were in a real game against an event match team.
The second PC came a minute into the second half, and with a deceptive push out we broke the deadlock care of a corker from Ad. That seemed to spur Stafford on, and for periods of the second half they pushed really hard. Colin made some good stops, and important clearances, with Adam, Minty and DC standing firm.
We had some good chances to extend the lead, including a screaming tomahawk from Joe, that just clipped the top of the post.
Overall, we were deserving winners in a tight match. Great performances all over the pitch, but after several MOTM performances after shipping a hatful, Colin popped the others for his significant contribution to the clean sheet.
