What a way to round off our league campaign, beating the league champions - and it could have been more!
Yes they have a cup game tomorrow, and were resting a few players, but North Staffs still brought a strong squad, and scored in less than a minute.
But Old Wulfs were not going to roll over and give them a victory parade. Stung into action, we retaliated immediately, with great work from Jake and Joe seeing up Si to even things out.
We knew we would have to play well, and we stepped up a gear. A drag-flick from Dane through the keeper's legs unsettled North Staffs, and we never looked back. Joe and Dan combined to make it 3-1 at half time, with Old Wulfs looking the better side for much of the half.
The second half was more of the same. Darryl cleaned up the scraps at another PC to bow out in style, before Joe and Dan combined again for Dan's second of the match, and Sam picked up the pieces of another PC. At 6-1 the game was dead as a contest, which might have slipped into tired legs - conceding a couple at the end was frustrating, but not unexpected given the pace we had played with.
Nevertheless, with our best perfume of the season, we were deserving winners. A while team performance, but my pick for MOTM is Joe for relentless running and harrying.
We showed we belong in Div 6, and have lots of positives to take into next season. It was a great way to send off Jack as he moves to pastures new for work, and to say thank you and goodbye to Darryl as he steps back to focus on running at elite leve.
